New year's resolutions

Happy new year everyone! Hope you all had a good time last night and that 2013 will be the best year yet! Seeing as it's customary to make new year's resolutions, I thought I'd share mine for 2013:

1. Eat healthier, exercise 3x a week and lose weight
I know pretty much everyone says this, but thanks to uni exams, general life stress and a lack of time, I stopped exercising, ate a lot of takeaways and as a result have put on at nearly a stone in 2012. This year I want to make a real effort to cook more, get into a regular exercise routine, hopefully lose some weight and feel more body confident again.

2. Stop comparing myself to others
This is something I'm totally guilty off. As a result, I always judge myself harshly and end up feeling incompetent. Instead, I need to remind myself that we're all different, and rather than comparing myself to others, I should focus on being the best possible version of myself. In many ways I feel like I need to spend more time figuring out who I am and what it is that I want to achieve.

3. Spend more time with friends and family
In the first half of 2012, I rather neglected friends, family and even uni work. I did rectify this in the second half of 2012, but this year, I want to make even more of an effort to keep in touch with everyone. Luckily I've graduated from uni, so work is no long an issue, but as a result, many of my good friends are now scattered across the UK. In 2013, I hope to visit everyone at least once, and continue to grow our friendships as we begin our journey into adulthood.

4. Continue working on the blog
Since starting Peonies and lilies in 2009, blogging has become such a big part of my life. I hope this will continue in 2013. This year I'm planning on buying a blogging diary so I can be more organized, produce better content, take more OOTD photos and maybe even find the confidence to film a youtube video!

5. Overcome my shyness, be more confident and make the most of every opportunity
I've not spoken about this before, but I can be incredibly shy around people I don't know very well. I often struggle withs self confidence and it does sometimes hold me back. In 2013, I want to make a real effort to overcome this, talk to more people, not let myself be pushed around, say yes to as many things as possible and ultimately live life to the full!

6. Travel more
Back in 2011, I spent 2 months in Australia, during which time I was well and truely bitten by the travel bug. It opened my eyes to a whole new world, and this year I'd really like to go and visit more countries. New York has been on my list of places to visit for quite some time now, and we plan on going later this year, once I've started my job and have some shopping money saved up. Hopefully we'll be able to squeeze in a short weekend break in February too.

What are your new year's resolutions? Have you got any exciting holiday plans for 2013?

    1. Haha I'd probably do the same. Maybe you could write them down and keep them on a fridge door or something to remind yourself? I'm going to try and refer back to this blog post every few month. Good luck and Happy new year! x
