Essie Wicked NOTD

As the weather gets colder, I always find myself gravitating towards darker, more sophisicated nail polishes, and I think Essie Wicked might just be my perfect shade this autumn/winter:

I'd describe Essie Wicked as a deep plummy burgundy, which looks almost black in some lights. The burgandy and plum helps to add some warmth though, so the overall effect is vampy, rather than gothic.

I actually had this manicure done at a Bliss spa event, so can't comment on how good the brush was, but I am impressed with it's pigmentation. The above photo shows 2 coats, and you can see it's beautifully opaque and even in colour. The lasting power is also pretty impressive. The manicurist used a base and top coat, but 4 days on, it is still going strong and there is only minimal wear at the tips.

Essie have been raved about quite a lot recently, and having tried a few of their nail polishes, I can definitely see why. They've got some lovely colours and now that there's a diffusion line in Boots and Superdrug, the range is a lot more accessible. I'd love to try a few more, so please do let me know what your favourite shades are.

RRP £7.99, available now from Boots and Superdrug

  2. I think Autumn/Winter brings out everyones inner Goth! I've got some nice grungy colours from Kiko that I'll be wearing soon - dark teal, pumpkin orange, and yellow that looks like a haystack!

    1. It really does! Your Kiko nail varnishes sound very autumnal too, I love the sound of that dark teal colour x

  3. This is lovely, and perfect for Autumn/Winter! I'm not sure I have a shade like this, or at least not one that will apply in 2 coats and look as shiny as this xx

    1. It does have a top coat on, but Essie nail polishes generally have a shiny finish too. It's a beautiful colour x
